No Beast So Fierce (2016) Script

Where are you?

Are you all grown up?

Are you married?

Are you a father?

What happened to you?

Stop smoking daddy.

We're the perfect family you know what that feels like, to have a perfect family?

He begged me to come visit with Johnny.

No fuckin' way, I'm not going to a prison with my son.

It's all his fault that Johnny's the way he is now.

He has this scar, it's right on his leg, right back here.

Poor baby.

He was such a sweet boy.

A dog bit my son.

I was angry.

I wanted to get revenge.

I am deeply, deeply sorry for what I have done.

I feel that I have served my time and I am not the person I was when I came in.

That's good, because you need to realize, you will be known as a ex-con, and people are going to be egging you into situations, and getting a shotgun for revenge is going to land you back in here.

I understand that I need to control my emotions.

What's the first thing you're going to do when you are out in society?

I'm going to find my son.

What is that thing?

What is that thing that's standing in the way of us doing our job?

You want to identify that.

How you doin'?

I spent a lot of time I got to tell ya as a drunk.

It's not about the drinkin', it's all that other stuff that's stopping ya from seeing where you belong in the world.

Do we have control over that?

Do we have the choice to say, don't turn negativity into a daily feature of my life?

Anxiety is gone. Fear, gone.

Guilt, what did I do? It happened.

Was that my fault?

Do I have to live with that the rest of my life?

Or do I say, "Show me the way, and I'll overcome it."

That's pretty, pretty, exciting stuff.

Sober eight years.

Everyday I get up and I say, "I am the instrument of my own deliverance

"from this world of insanity."

My sanity I control.

Hey, how you doing?

Hank Tornac.

Come on, here it goes, here it goes.

I'm transferrin' over from Green Point.

Don't let these guys try to run this place.

You let them know this is your fuckin' house.

Especially if they touch you, because the goon squad's comin' and they're getting the fuckin' boots put to 'em.

Why'd you transfer?

My ex is now gone, she took my kid, you know, no longer close to the facility so I figured I'd come up to this area.

I bet you shined a few guy's heads.

A little bit.

But you got to be careful because they want your job now, they want to suspend you for doing the right thing.

You know, I see these guys at night see them jerking off, doing all kinds of shit.

You know, and then they come out here they lift weights.

It's all a show, fake fucking tough guys.

Management got your back?

Good brass has your back. Yeah.

The chickenshit no-spines don't have our back.

Who's the new C.O.?

I don't know.

All I know, we get a few more look like him we can be runnin' this joint.

Ho, ho, ho.

Come on man, I only got five years left.

I'm allowed to think aren't I?

Hell, you're not thinkin' if you were thinkin' you're Queen wouldn't be sittin' where it's sittin'.

No. Sorry, I wouldn't do that.

What would you do? I...

Charlie, we playin' for cigarettes.

Oh, can I? Just, one move?

Hack's privilege.

Let me see here.

Mm, I think that's check.

Whoa! That's bullshit!

This game don't count.

What you talking about, you said it was okay.

No, I said my ass.

Check. Yeah right.

Yeah, you got this shit on the floor my nigger.

Whoa, whoa.

What the fuck do you think you're doin'?

You fuckin' new here son?

You need to step the fuck off homeboy.

Hey, you clean this shit up, you understand?

Or what? Or you're going to the shoe.

That's what!

The shoe? Yeah.

That's my second home.

I own the motherfuckin' shoe.

All you got is the motherfucking shoe.

You heard me, you clean that up or you're all going down.

Let's get this motherfucker.

Hey, get off of me!

Hey, don't pull me into this shit!

You want to start it with this motherfucking scape of ours.

You heard me. Let him go.

No you don't, motherfucker.

You know what? Maybe you right.

If I cut up a motherfuckin' child killer like you ain't nobody going to give a shit right?

I've got two days left.

Cut that motherfucker Mal, why we talkin'?

Get him Mal! Hey!

Get him Mal, fuck his ass up.

Beat him! Get on him!

Green on green! Fight in the...

Fuck! Come on Mal!

One more step, I break his fucking neck.

One more step motherfucker...

Green on green, fight in the mess hall.

This shit ain't over motherfuckers.

Hey, that's enough, you're going to kill him.

You want to spend the rest of your life in here?

Do you?

I owe you one.

Get your shit out of here.

Last motherfuckin' day.

Advice? Yeah.

In this game it's all about motherfuckin' demons.

The demon win or you win.

While we're here we tame the demon a little bit.

But when you get back out there that gives the demon juice, man.

It's like he gets high, and he starts to grab more, grab more, grab more.

And you've got to fight harder, and harder everyday to beat his ass.

Like the wine-heads say, "Beat him for a minute, "beat him for an hour, beat him for a day."

Hey, you're gettin' out soon.

Oh man, what's with the gangster grill man, it's just me and you out here.

Water under the bridge, right?

It's just good to see someone?

Yeah, that's all I'm sayin'.

Shit got a little out of hand the other day.

Yeah, I'm cool if you're coo.

You got a son out there, right?

You want to look him up?

Well, good luck.

You best be quick about it then.

Excuse me?

Now, all I'm sayin' is that I've got some brothers out there lookin' for him too.

You'll be getting sloppy seconds if they find him first.

What the fuck! Hey, back the fuck up!

Back the fuck up asshole.

It's not worth it.

Back the fuck up.

You have a good rest of your life motherfucker.

Knocked that motherfucker out if he troubles you.

Not worth it now.

You're gettin' out, congratulations.

Yeah, maybe I'll buy you beer on the outside sometime.

Yeah, sure... maybe.

Make sure you call.

Yeah, it's 26.

What, are you waiting for a fuckin' bus?

Here's your key, if you lose it you pay for another one right out of your pocket.

You go to social services yet?

Yeah. Yeah?

Can you get the door?

I don't believe it.

Did you just get out? This morning.

Well, you can't stay here. I can't do that.

I got a place.

I don't got any money for you either.

How you doin'?

How does it look like I'm doin'?

Is that your fault?

Is everything my fault?

Twenty years of no calls, no letters.

I was protecting myself, protecting my son.

What did I do? Look at you.

Why are you here?

Need to find Johnny.

Haven't seen him in years, don't want to see him.

Why? Because he's gone bad.

What kind of bad?

Every kind of bad.

You must have some way of gettin' in touch.

I don't. What do you want from him?

I don't want anything from him, he's in trouble.

Get him into more trouble!

Me? Look at you!

If he's gone bad it's you and you're fuckin' drugs.

You want to know about Johnny?

Yeah, I want to know about fuckin' Johnny!

You want to fucking know about Johnny?

Yeah, I do! Here!

Check it out, straight A's. No thanks to you.

Jesus Christ, what the fuck?

This is your fault. My fault?

Yeah. Gina!

Who are you?

It's him isn't it?

Where's Johnny?

I can't help you.

Hey, Gina, why don't you go get dressed, all right?

Go get some clothes on all right?

And you, you have no reason to be here.

Where's Johnny?

Johnny isn't here, Johnny doesn't live here.

Tell me where he is. She doesn't know!

Now get the hell out of this house.

Shut the fuck up. fuck him!

I need help finding someone, you guys do that kind of thing?

Yeah, sure.

He's on the phone right now, you can fill this out first.

I've been finding people for 45 years.

I've got access to databases, I've got the motor vehicle, I've got credit scores.

If he's on the grid I can find him.

If he's not it's going to take a little more time and I'm going to have to go out and huff it.

And that's sometimes a little bit more involvement moneywise and so on.

How long does it normally take?

That varies, you know, I mean you give me a retainer and then I get the ball rollin'.

A retainer? A retainer.

This is a missin' persons, it's a thousand dollars and we don't take personal checks, I wish we did.

But we've been burned, you know?

I don't have that kind of money.

What kind of money do you have?

Simons, put him on.

Do you mind?

I'm sorry about that.

Sorry about what?

I hear everything.

I just can't imagine not seeing your child for that long, and not even knowing where he is.

How long were you in?

I'm sorry?

My brother was inside for eight years, you have the same taste in tats.

That's a long time. Yeah.

What the fuck is that! God damnit!

Baby what happened? Jesus Christ!

He scared the shit out of me with that fuckin' spider.

Look at the mess I'm in! Yeah, this!

My spider!

Your little spider's going down the fuckin' toilet.

And you'd better get a sitter by tomorrow or don't come in.

You here me? Don't come in!

Hey, he's just a kid.

What'd you say?

I said relax, he's just a kid.

And I said take your fucking hand off of me.

You hear me?

I said he's just a kid. It's okay, it's okay.

Now take a fucking walk. Keep fuckin' going.

Yeah, oh, I'm shaking. Get the fuck out of here.

So what's up, yeah. Tell me.

Oh right, see, there's a problem right there.

You know, if it's pizza...

Is it a good time? Sit down, it's busy.

Be out in a second.

But you know, this, this is different my friend.

You know, you place the order...

You motherfucker!

Hey! Hey! You're not listening.

There is no fucking cancellation.

Hank! My man!

Go ahead and take a seat.

This is good?

It's all good.

You got my money? No.

Did you just say, "No." to me?

I know, I'm sorry, but I, I, I don't got it.

Stop playing with me bro, you know?

Don't worry.

I'm not worried, I don't like people changing the deal.

But the money is in play, I, I just need the money now.

For how long?

You'll get everything Thursday.

Rules are rules, that's another six points.

Okay, six points.

Oh, another thing, I need another 10 grand.

You're going to get it back.

You fuckin' serious?

You want somebody to jerk you off you get one of these guys.

If you want a return on your investment I'm your man.

You don't ask for much!

That's it.

Tell me, what is it that you fuckin' do?

I mean, you know...

I make a profit and I return that profit to you I believe.

Well, he's got a few things going but he's not going to tell us what they are is he?

You'll get it back, you know that.

I'm always interested in new businesses.

You got anything for me, your friend?

You serious?

We're having a serious conversation right now.

No, I'm serious. Right.

You want a taste I might have a few things for ya.

Yeah, I want a taste. Okay.

Thursday. Thursday?

You got it!

Otherwise... Bad things happen, right?

You said it, not me.

Get the man his money, all right?

Nice car.

Oh man, it's good to see you.

It's good to see you!

You too.

Unbelievable. Unbelievable.

You want to go for a ride?

Do I want to go for a ride?

What the fuck do you think? Get in the car.

Hey, remember that time I threw a brick and bust that window?

The plant manager came runnin' out.

What's that guy's name?

Igor. Igor.

You're fired motherfucker, you fired.

You ran like hell.

Yeah, I did, didn't I?

I should've known then.

You know, I never got a chance to thank you.

For what?

For not ratting on me man.

You know, that probably got you a bunch of extra years.

No, that was my beef.

That was the last dumb thing I did.

Scared me straight, bought a garage.

I need to talk to you about Johnny.

Johnny, how's he doin'?

That's fucked up man!

You still in touch with anybody from the old days?

I try not to be, but yeah, know a few.

You think you can ask around?

Of course.

One more thing, I need a gun.

Hey, glad you called.

How you doin'?

Malvin put a hit on my son.

Wow, whoa! You serious?

Oh man, that piece of shit!

He's got a lot of ties on the outside.

You might want to warn your son.

Well, that's the thing, I can't find him.

You don't know where he is?

No, I tried my ex, that was a waste of time.

Anything I can do, can I help?

Yeah, talk to Malvin's crew.

You know, see what the guys are saying.

I mean after what went down he's not going to talk to me.

You owe me for what went down.

I owe you big time, and I'm going to pay you back.

But you're asking me to poke a stick into a hornet's nest.

I'm the new guy, nobody's got my back.

Keep 'em comin'. Two.

You got kids?

Yeah, daughter.

You get to see her much?

No, no, I don't see her.

I want to, but you know, people, stuff, I try to be a good father, but the courts are against ya.

Life has a way of takin' those things that you care about and kind of...

About those fuckin' drinks!

When was the last time you saw your son?

The day I went in.

He never came for a visit?

No, nothin'.

Yeah, it sucks.

You know, I ask the wrong questions and I end up with a knife in my back.

But I'll do what I can, all right?

Hi, Helen.

Can I... Please, sit.

Can I talk to you for a sec? Of course.

I did a little arm twisting myself.

I got grandma to look after him for the next two weeks anyway.

Do you want a smoke?

No, no, thanks.

Are you having any luck with your son?

You know what?

I've been working at that place for two years.

I know how to get into the system.

Not from my desk, but through his computer.

I wouldn't be able to do anything until Friday.

He goes out for a liquid lunch with his buddies every Friday.

But I could slip in then.

It's not a guarantee, I'll do my best, I promise.

Do you think he'll be happy to see you?

I don't know.

Cool. There he is. How you doing?

Look what I got for you.

Look what I got for you.

Look at these.

Boom. Boom.

That's what you're looking for right?

Hey, they clean?

Yeah, never been used brother.

Never been used.

This one has a nice weight to it.

Never seen any action.

That's good right?

It sticks a little. A little bit.

You lookin' for somebody?

Hey, can I help you?

Yeah, I was looking for Charlie.

There he is.

Hey. What's going on?

Yeah, the guy in the halfway house said I'd find you here.

Is this your place?

This is.

Man, I should bring my wreck in here.

You guys look like you know what you're doin'.

A little bit. Bring it in.

You got any news? Yeah.

There's an OTB a couple blocks down the street.

You wanna talk there?

Yeah, I'll meet you there.

Hank Tornac. Ah, Mike Keegan.

Nice to meet you Mike.

See ya in a bit.

Who's that?

That's the CO.

That's the fuckin' CO that caused all this shit for you?

That guy?

Does that run?

Yeah, kind of.

Can I borrow it?

I can do that.

You just got to promise me one thing.

What's that?

You got to give me some time to find the kid, man.

I don't want you usin' the gun.

Trust me, I don't wanna use it either.

And the CO you guys call Spaceman.

I've known him since Green Point and he's tight with...

Hey, wait a minute, wait a minute, don't fall back, she's got a kick, it's comin'.

She's got a kick.

Who's he tight with?

With Malvin and them.

He's got an inside...

Come on, she's gettin' fenced in.

Oh no, no, no, no, no.

Shit! Shit! Shit!

You all right?

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, I'm all right, it's just a fuckin' race.

Give me another one will ya, Tony?

All right, look, there's somethin' going on.

Good news is they don't have any idea where your son is.

Who has no idea where my son is?

Malvin, he's got his cousin on the outside and all his guys, he's got his... you know... he's got everybody lookin' for him, but we got, we got, the ear.

So I told you I'd take care of you.

I'm taking care of you.

That's your plan?

It's my fuckin' plan, it's what it is.

I'll tell you when I hear anything else.

What? What?

I'm going to take care of you on this.

Give me some information.

I'm a fucking piece of shit con.

I'm out, and I'm trying to find my fuckin' son.

How do you know his life is in danger?

Because K99 put a hit on him.

K99 is a nasty gang.

What's your involvement?

They don't play with people like you.

What I don't get is what kind of information could you have when you're standing up for a CO?

What are you protecting him for, that's going to have Malvin come after you?

Or more importantly, after your son?

Can you help me or not?

Look, here's the deal.

We're not in the business of trying to find people you lost 20 years ago, that's not what we do.

Okay, you've got all sorts of other avenues for that.

What I would suggest with this Malvin guy, go to his cousin Delroy Gibbons.

He's got a barbershop down on, what is it, Martin Luther King down by the interstate.

You want information about K99, go talk to Delroy.

Hey, is Delroy around?

Lookin' for Delroy.

What you want with Delroy?

I got a message from Malvin.

You was locked up with him, you just came home?

Yeah, we were up state.

Yo, this nigga knows Malvin. Beat that.

My nigga Malvin, man, send him my love.

So what you need with Delroy?

Oh, we got some business.

All right, he know you comin'?

You all get next one in the game.

My nigga, save me some of that cigarette too, all right?

I'm Charlie Sundstrom.

I'm here to make you an offer.

See, I'm the one who put the hurt on Malvin.

My son, he had nothin' to do with it.

So, you do whatever you want to me.

I'm sure you've been inside, things happen.

No, I haven't. Okay.

I've never been locked up.

Well, shit's pretty ugly in there.

Things got out of hand.

You seem like you need to get back on your meds, because you're clearly crazy.

Listen man, you come in here to my establishment, you got your chest puffed out, who the fuck do you think you're talking to?

I mean you clearly walked into a place that you're not in charge, right?

You got this demeanor like you are, but you're not.

Relax, relax. Hey, hey. Relax.

You're the guy with the son?

Yeah, what about my son?

Well, I heard Mike was looking for your son, and he was talking to some dude on the phone.

Did he find my son?

I don't know.

Is Mike around?

No, he hasn't gotten in yet.

He's supposed to get in at 9:30.

Hey, Mike!

Mike, you here?

Yeah son?

Where's the dog?

The dog's not here.

Dog's not here.

I don't want the dog to come in.

The dog's not comin' in.

Hank, it's Charlie.

Yeah, we gotta talk.

Hey, hey. Come on.

Where you been?

Delroy and his gang, they fuckin' shot Mike and his wife.

Your buddy from the garage? His wife?

Fuckin' animals.

Well, what did they have to do with your son?

I'm thinking maybe I'll go back to the police.

If you come with me they'll listen this time.

Uh, no, no, no.

That's past, there's no time for that.

What do you mean?

Look, I got a call, I know where Johnny is.

You know where Johnny is?

When the fuck were you going to tell me?

Look, first I just have to tell ya about this.

I'm in trouble Charlie.

What the fuck are you talk...

Give me two minutes. Come on.

I promise ya, I'll tell ya, but I just need two minutes.

Start fuckin' talking.

Look, I got a gambling problem, and I owe this guy a lot of money.

It's a disease, I can't help it.

I owe Shyboy a shitload of money.

Shyboy? Yeah.

What kind of name is that?

It's a shy, Shylock. Shyster.

He's not shy, believe me.

He says I've got until tomorrow.

Tomorrow? What happens tomorrow?

He smashed two of my fingers in my hand.

It's not going to be good.

It's not going to be good.

That's not my problem.

I want you to make it your problem.

I want you to make my problem go away, permanent.

I can't do that.

What do you mean?

You know I can't.

This is just a...

This guy's a psychopath, this guys deserves to die.

Murder is murder, Hank.

What about me, huh?

He's going to murder me.

What about my life, huh?

I make a mistake I, I die?

There's got to be another way.

There is no other way. And I'm sorry.

I really am.

Yeah? I know.

And I'm sorry too.

Where's my son?

Yeah, we're runnin' out of time.

You do for me and I'll do for you.

Don't fuck with me Hank.

You tell me where he is, right fucking now, or I swear to God I'll shoot you myself.

That's good, you won't shoot some lowlife scumbag, but you'll put a bullet in me?

That's the way you fix things, huh?

Where's my son!

Come on!

You think I won't?

Is that what you fuckin' think?

Don't fucking try me, okay.

Yeah, come on, come on, do it.

Pull it. Fuck you! Pull it!

I'm trading for my life here, does that make me a bad guy?

Does it?

Don't make me beg.

I got, I got nothin'.

Come on!

How is he?

He's fuckin' traumatized.

In this game, it's all about motherfuckin' demons.

Demons man.

The demon win or you win.

Charlie, come on man, we're talking about a dog, it's a dog.

This fuckin' dog's got to pay.

What's done is done brother, it's over.

We got to sit here, we'll watch the kid.

Gina will be home in a minute.

You fuckin' comin' or not?

We should do it here.

Can you get him here?

Oh yeah. Yeah. Absolutely.

What about the neighbors?

We'll do it in the basement.

Nobody sees, nobody hears.

And the body?

There's a lake five miles away, back roads.

The sooner the better.

Hank, are you wasting my fuckin' time right now?

Absolutely not. I respect you way too much.

We've had our differences but I...

Do you or do you not have my money right now?

Yeah, I got the money.

You got my money? So where the fuck are you?

I want to show you what I've been doin' all this time.

I mean this thing is paying off big time, in spades.

I'm telling you, when you see the shit that we've been going after and what's available with this-

You think you can get into his computer tonight?

No. He locks his office at night.

Things are kind of on a fast track.

Are you okay?

Yeah. Yeah.

Just gotta do somethin' that I don't want to do.

Do what exactly?

I'll be fine.

You remember my brother, the one who went to prison?

Right before he got caught for armed robbery we had the same kind of conversation.

Whatever it is, don't do it, wait till tomorrow Charlie.

I just talked to him, he's on his way.

Still loaded?

You checked that 20 minutes ago.

He should be here by now.

You all right?

Am I all right?

Yeah, I'm all right. You all right?

Let's do this fast so we can find your son.

You found it?

Sure did.

Come on.

Want a drink?

Sure, I mean we got a lot to talk about right?

I don't want shit.

Oh, you smoke, I never knew you smoked.

That's not good for you my friend, you know, got to stay healthy if we want to do business together.

I know.

What happened to your hand?

You're a funny guy.

So where's my cash?

Yeah. Yeah.

You ready to make some money?

Here we go.

This is thirty-thousand dollars.

Sounds about right.

Sounds about right.

You know, when you're contemplating a successful start to an enterprise which I believe we are, those are important questions to ask.

What questions?

Well, what exactly is enough?

Do you lose yourself in the panoply of all possibility, where excess is the only debt in town, you know what I mean?

No, I don't know what you mean Hank.

What the fuck are you talking about?

I'll show you your money today, but I also want to show you your money tomorrow, and next week, and next year.

Well, let's start with what's in the briefcase, shall we?

Well, that's a start.

So let's open it.

You want to see the...

Shut the fuck up!

Fuckin' nothin'!

Let's snap this motherfucker's neck bone.

Hold up, hold up, Hank, where the fuck is the money?

Wait a minute, I thought we were going to be talking.

I'm not going to have thirty-thousand dollars for him to...

What the fuck is going on Hank?

Where's my fucking money?

Get your fuckin' hands off him!

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Right there.

Who the fuck are you?

Doesn't matter who I am. What the fuck!

On your fuckin' knees! What!

Right fuckin' now.

All right. All right.

All right.

Put your hands on the floor.

What the fuck is goin' on?

You talk to much, shut up.

Hands on the floor.

Hank, you fuckin'...

You fucked me Hank.

I have a message and I'm more excited about givin' it to you today than anything I've ever done in my life.

We'll use the rugs.

Shut the fuck up! Shut the fuck up.

I had a good job, a father, good husband.

I'll blow your fuckin' head off right now.

Shut your fuckin' mouth.

Pull the trigger.

All this stuff, it's stoppin' you?

Attack it.

Do it.

And everyday, that's how I started off.

How can I do this? Give me the power.

Give me the power.

That's what you've got to do.

You got to get that thing, it's the drinkin'.

It's about anything that's stoppin' you from doing your job.

And you gotta wrestle it, you gotta take it down to the floor and you gotta rip it apart.

I gave my will and my life over to a greater force, to a power that surged through me when I realized I could be the instrument of my own deliverance.

Where the fuck where you?

Fuck you.

Just calm down.

You tied him up.

All right, all right.

The fuck.

Nothin's changed.

Nothin's fuckin' changed.

It's your fuckin' fault.

God damn it!

Come on, do it! Do it.

Do it!

He's gonna kill us both now.

Just pull the fuckin' trigger.

You have some money stashed away right?

When your friend over here wakes up I'm going to let him go.

He's got an hour to come back with a hundred grand.

If not you end up at the bottom of the fuckin' lake, you hear me?

What the hell is this?

That's not the deal.

I'm changing the fuckin' deal.

You want to save your son or not?

Are you threatening me?

I'm just saying, are you fuckin' threatening me?

Why the fuck you doin' this?

I lent this prick some money, you know?

And now I'm trying to collect, I mean what's wrong with that?

It's your method of collection.

What are you talkin' about?

What the fuck am I talking about?

Huh, you want me to show you?

Show me, show me what?

You want me to fuckin' show you?

Help! Help!

Wait, wait..

Here's the fucking deal.

You fucking ready tough guy?

Finish him off.

You're going to tell me right?

Yeah, I swear.

Swear on the life of your daughter.

I swear on my daughter's life.

Stop your fuckin' laughin'.

Stop it!

Stop it!

Stop it.

I said stop it!

You'd do all that for your son, to protect him?

I talked to Gina, your ex.

You're a good mom.

Thank you Hank.

Gina, why were you talking to Gina?

She told me that there was one thing that you loved more than anything in the world.

Your boy.

I wasn't so sure, I mean, a kid you'd never seen.

What about Johnny?

I talked to Johnny on the phone today.

No one is threatening him.

Malvin, I paid him a couple of cartons of smokes and a few pills.

I set all that up.

What the fuck is going on Hank?

He didn't break my fingers, my hand's fine.

The real bonus was you lead me right to Mike.

You introduced me.

What about Mike?

About Mike?

I made sure that Mike saw his wife die just before I put a bullet in his head.

Mike, my good pal, Mike.

Charlie? Charlie?

Don't you die on me.

Who the fuck are you?

I got to tell you a story.

You stay with me. You stay with me!

I'm going to tell my story now.

Once upon a time, there was a man, a man who loved his wife and his six-year-old daughter, very, very much.

One Fourth of July there was fireworks in the park.

But the man couldn't take his family, he had a shift at work, see?

So he called his wife and told her she should go without him.

It'd be somethin' special.

I mean that's somethin' bad.

Really, really bad happened.

Yeah Charlie.

Yeah, yeah I am.

This is Catherine and my Charlotte.

It was my job to protect them, but you and Mike took that away from me.

I served my time, 20 fuckin' years.

Twenty years?

You killed my family!

Now, Gina said somethin' about a big scar.

It was all your fault.

Charlie? Good.

Good, you remember.

Why don't you check.

Check what?

Come on Charlie, you think Shyboy was named that from birth?

Johnny was a much better name.

You didn't protect him, did ya'?

You feel what I feel, Johnny?

You're feeling it now.

I found you.

Sir, sir, hi, is Charlie Sundstrom here?

Charlie Sundstrom ain't here no more.

What happened? You know where he is?

He ain't here, he's gone.

I'm going to give you somethin', because I care about all of you.

You're beautiful people and I appreciate the struggles, the struggles I've seen, and the honesty I've seen, because it's rare to see it in this world, let me tell ya.

I want to give you somethin' because you deserve it.

Each one of you is a loving, respected human being.

You're gonna find a way to take that out into the world, where everybody feels that.

I'm a human, hey, I belong, I can be loved.

Another way to salvation? Maybe.

How about just being able to get up in the morning, drink your coffee and read the paper without letting rage blind you.

Here's the thing I want to tell ya.

You choose, you control the anxiety, the guilt, the fear, whatever it is.

You control when that stops yo, or you send it away, and you find that beautiful, positive thing you're going towards.

And you go there.

Do you hear me?
